Do you want to declare your independence from Tom and George? Do you want to tell them that they are not welcome anywhere? SOS want you to send out that message further, that it is not just those in Anfield or Liverpool that want Tom and George out, but many fans from right across the world. Continue reading Not Welcome Anywhere
Are we missing a ’save Liverpool FC’ campaign link? A forum, a supporter group, a website, a local or national media story – anything. Let us know – register, comment below and make sure we bring together everyone working towards a common goal: getting the owners out. If you are involved in a ’save Liverpool FC’ campaign and want to link to your site or publish a blog on savelfc.org, comment below with contact details or email admin@savelfc.org. Not every campaigner will agree on every idea – the presence or link of any website or organisation on this site does not imply 100% agreement on every issue, in either direction. But what is important in this campaign is what we do have in common: a clear understanding of the damage being done to our club and the urgency of bringing this disastrous ownership to an end as soon as possible. Continue reading Missing Link? Read the Well Red Magazine – Free Special Edition. SACKING Rafa Benitez is like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. It’s a cliche, but it’s also true. The owners of Liverpool Football Club – Tom Hicks and George Gillett – have turned a once-great institution into a sinking ship. They have plunged the club into millions of pounds of debt with nothing to show for it – the promised stadium remains the figment of an architect’s imagination while much of the debt is the money used by Hicks and Gillett to buy the club in the first place. They promised they wouldn’t ‘do a Glazer’. Then they ‘did a Glazer’. Continue reading Well Red Magazine – Free Special Edition All money donated via this site is used to support Save Liverpool FC campaign activity. At any given time, that may be to produce protest banners, printing flyers to be given out on a matchday, to place newspaper adverts, etc. This blog will be updated with current campaign activity priorities and, if necessary, specific requests for donations for specific campaign purposes. Continue reading Donate – where does the money go? 2010: Four Liars of the Apocalypse 12th January 2010 – Tom Hicks Jr tells Liverpool fan and SOS member Steve Horner to do something I’m not sure the majority of grown men would like to be able to do. Mr Horner declined, despite Mr Hicks assuring him that he’d been laying off the garlic for a while. Tom Hicks Jnr under pressure to resign from Liverpool board over obscene email to fan Continue reading The Warts And All Stadium Timeline – 2010 2009: Spare any change? 24th January 2009 – Hicks trails around the middle east like a rag and bone man (private jet instead of horse and cart of course) looking for investors for the club. The Telegraph went as far as running down the key negotiators. 22nd February 2009 – Spirit of Shankly’s inaugural AGM takes place. 27th February 2009 – Rick Parry leaves Liverpool FC. Fans openly weep in the street. Continue reading The Warts And All Stadium Timeline – 2009 2008: Credit Crunched Cowboys 8th January 2008 – Hazel Blears, Government Minister announces there’s no need for an inquiry into the plans. She said: “Local planning authorities are normally best placed to make decisions relating to their areas. It is right that in general, they should be free to carry out their duties responsibly, with the minimum of interference.” 10th January 2008 – apparently Liverpool in no rush over stadium plan. Continue reading The Warts And All Stadium Timeline – 2008 2007: New Owners, New Era, New Anfield 6th February 2007 - Hicks and Gillett buy the club. 60 days. Large swimming pools. Spades in the ground. No debt on the club – I mean, it’s totally different from what the Glazers are doing. 20th February 2007 – stadium plans were on display in the Vernon Sangster. It was still the Parrybowl at that stage. 12th March 2007 – parts of Stanley Park were fenced off, and bore holes made to test the ground. Progress, it seemed, was being made. Liverpool Echo – New Anfield Continue reading The Warts And All Stadium Timeline – 2007 2006: Moores, Parry and Bowls
13th July 2006 – Whoops! Moores and Parry are running out of time to get it started or they’ll miss out on that self-same grant. The grant, by the way, is European Union grant funding awarded via the NWDA. That’s the North West Development Agency, not the rap band. Although I could be wrong. 18th July 2006 – Parry says the stadium plans ‘won’t collapse’. Continue reading The Warts And All Stadium Timeline – 2006 | |||||
